Artist's Comments

Boredom has overcome paranoia. Let's just get this egg business over with.

This is what I did for half my eight-hour art exam (four hours, if you like). The other half I'll upload at some later point when I'm not supposed to be revising for chemistry (which is tomorrow morning, incidentally. But if I have to describe the mechanism for nucleophilic substitution once more I think I'll spontaneously combust. I'm not very kinetically stable, you see. I fact, I'm not stable at all.... *ahem*).

Anyway, there are a plethora of ways to 'interpret' this and I'm not going to put down any of them. :aww: It speaks for itself, I think.

Oil paints on canvas. Oh, and acrylics for the background, because I couldn't (this time around) wait all day for it to dry. I can't remember the exact dimensions; some strange size between A1 and A2.

Shhh... *grin*

I hereby swear never again to paint a torn eggbox with my bare hands.

I do have a life! Plenty, in fact. I just took five last week and haven't disposed of them yet.

Hey, I got plenty of eggs! Want to trade?:buymyprints:

Now, really, the oil skills never cease to amaze me ^_^

Chemistry is a biatch >.<

I've never met a bloke with eggs before.

I think I'll keep mine for the moment. Thanks. ;P

A ripped egg carton... and an egg. Plethora indeed.

Brilliant job of painting it by the way - it certainly has character - the tonal variation, the almost-organic (torn) inner lining on the carton (yes, I did just say the egg carton is almost living; yes, I probably should seek medical advice...) which contrasts beautifully with the regular, smooth (inanimate) outer surfaces. :D

So how was your chemistry exam?

I'm just taking some time away from revising for S2, which is in just about seven hours fourty five minutes, so I may be behaving a bit stange(r than usual) :faint:

Sorry I've taken a while to reply.

Yes, you always say that, and we all know you could do a hundred times better. :aww:

Chemistry is wonderful. Exams are bitches.

No, it was supposed to be like that. Maybe we both should. ;)

My chemistry exam was alright, although unit 3 (the practical chemistry bit) was a bit of a pain. Either way, I'm glad it's all done....

S2? What were you doing up at one o'clock then, you foolish boy? And how went it?

You have C3 and C4 next week, don't you?

Well, I was fairly sure it was supposed to be, after all the previous egg cartons paintings, but it was reassuring to hear someone else say it (more so since it is by your very own intent the egg carton is flesh-like) :)

I think you did a slightly different course/option for chemistry than we did then, our practical skills were assessed during the course of the... course :O_o: Edexcel (nuffied) I think, the Nuffield option pas a lot more practicals, but the only thing that means as far as I'm concerned is that you end up cramming the last two units in the space of less than a week (hence I'm not actually all that sure if the answers I gave for the unit 2 paper were entirely correct).

S2 was actually fairly easy, and 1 am isn't that late. The evening/night/morning before the Physics and DT: Systems and Control was considerably busier... Though the exams wents alright.

Yep, C3 and C4 and they're not giving those in my year any exam leave for it (since it's technically an A2 module ). A day and a half to revise C3 and then a couple of days to learn C4 (properly).

So on to A2 now for you?

(sorry my post was so complantative, but I'm just tired of cramming/revising over the past week )

P.S. Actually, I find it fairly interesting to see someone develop an object through their art (especially if they happen to be good in that medium, as you undeniably are). Though an egg carton isn't overly interesting from a strictly aesthetic point of view, though it is (as many things) rich in contexts and connotations

P.P.S. Seeing a psychiatrist seems like an interesting idea, I've always wanted to know what an outside scientific approach to classifying my own neuroses (and perhaps even psychoses, thoguh I'm more doubtful of the latter) would yield :D

Bah..

I have lost my art in creating and found another in consuming.
